Being a Good Neighbour
The Cardston & District FCSS have declared Saturday, June 15, 2024 as Good Neighbour Day. We would like to encourage community building by being a good neighbour to each other in our community. Good Neighbour Day creates an opportunity to get to know each other in our neighbourhoods and offers an opportunity to show kindness to each other. This is a day to celebrate our neighbours. Being a good neighbour is not difficult at all. It starts with a simple act of kindness. Invite them to a neighbourhood BBQ, make cookies and deliver them, give them a “thinking of you” card, lend a helping hand with yard work, get to know your neighbours, just a say a quick “hello” when you see them, do something nice for neighbour, or simply offer a kind word. As we get to know our neighbours, we start building a closer community around us. The Cardston & District FCSS is organizing some activities to celebrate being a “Good Neighbour” in Cardston. We want to promote and encourage neighbourhoods to celebrate community spirit and kindness to one another. We will also be holding some “Good Neighbour” contests for the next 2 weeks.
Block Parties
We encourage neighbourhoods to hold a block party to get to know your neighbours. Maybe organize a potluck dinner and invite everyone in your neighbourhood over. Or you could hold a meet & greet to meet everyone.
Rock Painting
Paint a rock with a positive message and hide it in your neighbourhood or on the walking path.
GOOD NEIGHBOUR ACTIVITIES
Sidewalk Chalk Art
Decorate the sidewalks in your neighbourhood with drawings, positive messages, hopscotch games, etc. to help spread creativity and cheer throughout our neighbourhoods. Pick up your FREE package of sidewalk chalk from the Town Office while supplies last.
Colouring Sheets - Ages 4-8 Enter to win a $20.00 Gift Card
Print the colouring pages off, colour them, and put them in your front windows as part of your Good Neighbour Day yard decorations or submit a completed colouring contest page to enter a draw to win 1 of 10 gift cards for $20.00.
BINGO Card - Play & Enter to win a $50.00 Gift Card
Download and print off 1 of the 3 Bingo Card sheets. Complete 2 rows (diagonally, horizontally, or vertically) to enter the contest. Every extra row will equal an extra entry into the draw. 5 winners will be chosen for a $50.00 gift card to a local restaurant. Only one completed card per family. Please submit your completed card to the Town Office by Thursday, June 27, 2024 @ 4:30pm to be entered into the draw.
